From Vancouver to Phoenix – March 3, 2014

Our Phoenix vacation started with a night at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel, something that we started treating ourselves too a few years ago, whenever we were faced with an early morning departure.

The rooms are spacious and very soundproof which is particularly important when you realize that many of the rooms overlook the boarding ramps at YVR.  We love it there and the food at the Jetside Bar is outstanding.  Don’t let the name fool you as it is a signature restaurant for Fairmont, and for someone who is not easily impressed by so-called high-end dining venues, this one is really great.

Our 3 hour WestJet flight to Phoenix left Vancouver just before 10 AM, and without a doubt the highlight of the southbound trip was the view of the Grand Canyon from the air.  Check out these images…… I can’t wait to see it from ground level later this month.
